The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan consists of 18 Regions and KVS Patna Region covers all Kendriya Vidyalayas of Bihar(40 KV's) and Eastern Uttar Pradesh(15 KV's). Patna Region has 55 schools in First Shift and 04 Schools in Second Shift managed and looked after by the three Education Officers under the guidance of the Assistant Commissioner. The Primary Aim of the Patna Region is to fulfill/achieve targets of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as per the guidelines provided by the KVS Headquarters and academic excellence in every sphere including all round development of the students.

The Commissioner KVS is the Chief Executive Head of the Sangathan and the Chief Administrator of Kendriya Vidyalayas. At the Headquarters, he is supported by two Joint Commissioners and five Deputy Commissioners and other officials.

Each Vidyalaya is managed by a Principal who is assisted by the Vidyalaya Management Committee headed by the chair person and consisting of 13 members . These Vidyalayas belong to three sectors namely , Defence Sector , Civil Sector and Project Sector . Generally , these Vidyalayas cater to the Educational needs of wards of Central Government Employees / Wards of State Govt. Employees and floating population can also seek admission depending upon the availability of vacancies in different classes on priority basis. Kendriya  Vidyalaya have become pace setting institutions and are in great demand .
